At football matches, fireworks are frequently set off in spectator areas
e.g. flares, Bengal fire or party crackers.
The fans who express their enthusiasm in such a manner may not be aware
of the dangers involved.
"Bengal fires" and rescue torches burn at temperatures ranging from 1,600
to 2,500 degrees Celsius. It is possible to suffer burns without having
direct contact with the fire.
What is more, it is not possible to extinguish firework fires while they
are burning. What is left of the burned-out containers remains very hot
for a long time so that even brief contact can cause serious burns.
Consequently it is forbidden to set off fireworks and the like in German
football stadiums.
Some police tips:
-
Do not carry fireworks.
-
It is generally prohibited to set off fireworks in public areas. You and
the people around you risk serious injury.
-
If you try to bring fireworks into a stadium, you risk being banned from
the stadium altogether.
